RIPD Strategy 2021-2025
Background
The main objectives set out in the ‘RIPD 2020’ strategic document, adopted in November 2016, have been met:
- Continue to expand the scope of influence of the RIPD in the new regulatory processes in the region, whose fundamental milestone was the approval in 2017 of the Personal Data Protection Standards for the Ibero-American States.
- Continue to strengthen its “institutionality”, in particular by improving effective cooperation between the Authorities, which led to the establishment in 2019 of the Permanent Group of National Data Protection Authorities (GPAN).
- Start a growing process of opening up to other non-institutional spaces, whose first step has been the launch in 2018 of the Civil Society Forum, to give a voice to the organizations and social entities that contribute in a commendable way to the protection of the fundamental right in the region.
- Strengthen the international projection of the RIPD, making it today one of the reference actors in the international data protection landscape, in areas such as the GPA or the Council of Europe.
A RIPD 2021-2025 strategy is being developed.
RIPD Strategy 2021-2025
The growth experienced by the RIPD and the new challenges it faces make it necessary to adopt a new strategy that lays the foundations to face the important changes that privacy will operate in the coming years and so that the Data Protection Authorities can equip themselves with the necessary framework and instruments with which to continue complying with the effective protection of the right.
For these reasons, the RIPD Strategic Plan for the period 2021-2025 was approved in December 2020.
